Sony Ericsson W595 Mobile Phone Review - The Latest and Best Walkman Phone?

The one thing that most Sony Ericsson phones have in abundance is good looks. No matter what lies beneath the surface, they all tend to have unique and beautiful appearances that can enhance the style factor of everyone using them. However, there is now an exception to the rule. The Sony Ericsson W595 is not the best looking phone ever and it is nowhere near as stylish as its Walkman phone predecessors but we all know that looks count for nothing when it comes to a mobile phone. Does the Sony Ericsson W595 live up to the rule that beauty is only skin deep or does its charm lie below the surface?

The Sony Ericsson W595 Appearance

In truth, it is easy to understand why the Sony Ericsson W595 does not inspire people at all. Its casing is a little lackluster to say the least. At 14mm thick, it is very chunky and feels a little weighty to hold. The slider also appears to be really boring with no apparent redeeming features at all. Its black casing is incredibly dull and the keypad revealed when it is extended is soft and just plain ugly. In short, there is absolutely nothing memorable about the Sony Ericsson W595 at al. Not even the 2.2 inch screen can make up for the rest of the packaging, but just what is underneath?

Beyond The Menus

If you do not care about the appearance of your phone or can look beyond the casing then you will find that you are in for a real treat because there are very few niggles within the menus. In fact, it is packed full of lovely touches that will enchant the user. For example, there are numerous connectivity options to choose from with Bluetooth, HSDPA and all of the other usual suspects present. The battery life is also surprisingly solid so you really can talk for hours with no need to charge your phone.

However, the standout feature is the multimedia player. Given that the Sony Ericsson W595 is a Walkman phone this is no surprise at all. It has all of the features that Sony Ericsson is renowned for, including TrackID, SensMe, FM tuner and shake control so you can skip tracks without pressing a button. Of course, the sound quality is excellent and the music player is incredibly easy to use. It is also compatible with all of the regular file types out there. As such, you may find yourself listening to music via the Sony Ericsson W595 more than you make calls!

In fact, there is only one niggle within the Sony Ericsson W595, aside from its appearance of course. That is the camera. It is a 3.2MP camera that takes decent pictures but its functionality is limited and it does not even compare to the music capabilities. However, given that it is a Walkman phone this is no surprise. Aside from that, there are no weaknesses under the surface. As such, if you can get past its decidedly poor looks then you have a real gem on your hands.

I have a sony walkman slider phone, how do you get the battery out? I can't find the directions..?

I got the phone wet, and now I need to find out how to take the battery out ASSAP please!

Depending on the slider phone you have, but if you flip it over to the back, the bottom half of the back phone cover should be able to be pulled out and the battery should just fall out thereafter.

If it's the w580i, I believe that it's where the Sony Ericsson symbol is. But in any case it's the lower bottom half of the back cover that should come out, sometimes this requires a little force.
