Macbook Air Only Displays Apple Logo When Restarted
have been using Mac systems for a while now but have never faced such a problem with it before. I recently purchased Macbook Air which is installed with Mac OS X Snow leopard. The Macbook was working fine until last night when it shut itself down while downloading some data from the Internet. Now the Macbook does not boot when the power button is pressed. MyMacbook Air only displays Apple logo when tried to boot. Is this some hardware failure or Software failure? Please help.
Macbook Air only displays Apple logo when restarted
As the Macbook Air is new I would suggest you to take the Macbook to some nearest Apple authorized service center. The Macbook will be tested thoroughly by the technician at the service. Once the Macbook is tested, the technician will list all the problems which are there in your Macbook. If the Macbook is under warranty then all the problems including the hardware replacement will be done free of cost otherwise the cost of the peripheral will be taken from you.
Macbook Air only displays Apple logo when restarted
The latest Macbooks which are released have Intel processors. Intel based Macbooks are facing problems with SMC. SMC is responsible for all the underlying the operations of the Macbook. To reset the SMC of theMacbook Air follow the steps below :-
1. Shut down the computer
2. Disconnect the AC adapter.
3. Remove the battery of the Macbook.
4. Press and hold the Power button for about 30 seconds.
5. Replace the battery and then try to boot the Macbook.
By looking at the problem I think the operating system on the Macbook has got corrupt. Mac systems displays Apple logo at the start up when the operating system on the computer is missing. Therefore if you have the installation disk of the operating system. Insert it in the drive and then boot the system from the disk. Once the installer loads, select the install/archive install mode. In install/archive install mode, the applications which are installed on the previousoperating system can be used. Once the operating system is restored then you will not face the same problem.
Many times invalid entries get stored in the RAM of the computer. If the RAM gets flooded with the invalid entries then the operating system of the computer will not work properly. The solution to such problem is to delete all the invalid entries from the RAM. Follow the steps below to perform the PRAM reset :-
* Shut down the computer.
* Press and locate the following keys ( Apple, Option, R and P)
* Press and hold the following keys while pressing power button.
* Keep the buttons pressed till three start up chimes are heard.
* Once 3rd startup chime is heard, release the keys and let the system boot.

What camera lenses should I use for a Pentax K1000?
I just got this camera, and it came with the standard lens, which is SMC Pentax-M 1:2 50mm...whatever that means. Can someone help me figure out all of this stuff from what film to use to lenses and so on? I'm clueless...
You have a 50mm f/2 lens, which is called a prime lens or the "normal" lens. This lens sees things pretty much the same way that you do. Most people are interested in getting a zoom lens for dramatic close-ups and some people are then interested in getting a wide angle lens. Some are also interestedin getting a macro lens. Since you are new to this whole thing, I'll make a couple of suggestions in the lower priced range. You can probably find similar lenses make by Sigma, Tamron or Tokina that will cost even less and they will be decent lenses. You will also find some Vivitar and Soligor lenses from that era that are okay to use. Even on the low-priced end, I prefer to but lenses made by the maker of the camera so that all of your lenses will work the same way. You won't have to focus to the left on one and focus to the right on another, etc. Genuine Pentax lenses may be labeled Pentax or Asahi Optical. Usually, they will also say "SMC" in the name.
Now, these lenses may not test up to the same quality as the really high-line Pentax lenses, but they are a starting point.
A nice zoom range is provided by the 75-300mm zoom. 300mm is a pretty good zoom, meaning there is a lot of magnification. It's like using a small telescope or some 6-power binoculars. It costs about $130.

If you want to have a multi-purpose lens that goes from wide angle to normal to telephoto, you can get the 28-105mm zoom. 85-to-105 is a nice focal range for portraits, so this lens covers that as well as giving you a decent wide angle all the way down to 28mm. This might actually be the best additional lens to buy, as you will get an idea about the differences between wide angle and telephoto. You can add a 1x or 2x "teleconverter" to get the range out to 315mm, too. The lens costs about $190.

Now - these are auto-focus lenses that I don't think the K1000 supports. You should still be able to use them in manual focus, but you could save more money by finding some all-manual lenses on eBay. You may have to ask someone's help in choosing them, though, because there are so many available.
