I want to set up a lil photo studio, is this tripod good enough?

Hey guys,

I'm on a really tight budget. The heaviest gear is my canon 450D attached to my 70-200mm L lens, its about 1,1 kilo. I want to buy the Davis & Sanford traveler tripod (15 euros). It's really cheap and exactly what I need, but is this tripod safe.

Oh and by the way, could someone give me an advice for what lighting i should buy? I don't know if I should buy a softbox umbrella or a flash umbrella. The flash umbrella can be used as a diffusor and as a light source.

by the way, the maximum weight the tripod can handle is 1.8 kilo, while my gear weights 1,1 kg

I have 4 tripods... Two of them broke and nearly broke my camera.

Are you going to trust that tripod with your camera? Is the ball head solid?
Buying tripods usually have two schools of thought. One, Buy a cheap one and replace it. OR Buy one that will last past your grandchildren's lifetime.

After I broke two tripods, I bought a benro. tripod. They are manufractured in China, but they are really nice tripods for an affordable price. Some of the current major manufractures include, Gitzo and Manfrotto.

THe debate between softbox umbrella or flash umbrella is a forever, ongoing struggle. It sounds like you like the versitility of the flash umbrella. Use that. Opponents may say that they dont' like how the light looks through a flash umbrella and are die hard softbox people. There will always be people in both camps.
My opinion: get the flash umbrella now. Get really familiar with it; and then you can compare it with the results you get from a softbox years later. You can then decide how you want to proceed.
