The latest heart throb in the gadget world is the newly found multi-functional feature of printers, the digital photo frame. The latest from the land of Epson is PictureMate PM310. It is a compact photo printer that consists of a semi-huge 7" LCD screen mounted on it. It hangs on the wall or lies on a desk, as you like it, and offers a host of features such as photo editing tools and slide shows for viewing.

It costs £199 which is not bad at all for what it can offer. Users can plug in memory cards and feed pictures wirelessly through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. USB port is made available as well.

The prints from this printer are absolutely a delight to be proud of. Colours are vivid and natural. There is no presence of banding while the print speed is on the slower side at over a minute for each 4" X 6" photograph.

The lack of internal memory on this device makes it a handicap of sorts. When the slide show is in motion, each image gets loaded at that point in time from the memory card reader, and if we have images that are pretty big, you might start observing delays in the process, along with jerky motion as well. We feel that the manufacturer could have handled this better with an internal memory.

Verdict : The Epson PictureMate PM310 is a great device for your living room. It displays images with clarity and prints are studio-like.
